VFW Post 51 has undertaken a project to assist Korean War Veterans in the Spokane area to receive the Korean War Medal (from Korea) at a public ceremony on or near Veteran's Day, 2002.
Interested local Veterans please check the criteria below and, if eligible, contact Dick Hazelmyer, Korean War Project Chairman and Sr. Vice Commander at the following:

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be a military veteran or the primary next of kin.
  • Have served during June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953.
  • Have served within the territorial waters, landmass, or airspace over the Korean peninsula.
  • Have served while on permanent assignment in the geographic area described.
  • Have served in this area for 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days on temporary duty.
  • Have served as a crew member in aerial flight over Korea in actual combat, or in support of combat operations.
  • Documentation of service is required.
